1. Go to Custom Settings > Custom Products
2. Click on 'Create New' to create your custom product
3. Select the product type - 'Benchmark'
4. Complete the fields on the screen, as appropriate
Note: the fields marked with a red asterisk are compulsory
Ownership: Select if you want to make this product available to other users in your business
Note: this option may not be available to all users and is dependent on your user settings. The default is personal
Code: a code unique to this product you are creating, similar to an index identifier
Name: the name you are giving the benchmark
Asset Class: select the asset class. This will be the default sector the product will be measured against, for example in Quantitative Analysis
Sector: select the sector, if required. This will be the default sector the product will be measured against, for example in Quantitative Analysis
Sub-sector: select the sub-sector, if required. This will be the default sub-sector the product will be measured against, for example in Quantitative Analysis
Once this criteria has been populated, click Create.
5. Upload the data
Choose whether you wish to upload Composite Performance (e.g. to create a benchmark from a combination of funds/ benchmarks already in iRate) or if you wish to upload growth data under Custom Performance to create your own fund.
Option A - Composite Performance
Click on Add to select the products you want to combine together. Simply enter the APIR/ASX code by the benchmark/ product name.
Add the weight percentage in the Weight column ensuring your composite totals to 100%.
To delete a product click on to the right of each product
Once you have entered all the details click on 'Save' at the top of the screen
You can update/edit your products and weights at any time by coming back in and adding or deleting funds or changing the weights.
Option B - Growth data Custom Performance
To create a benchmark we have no data for, you can load the growth or monthly return data into iRate by selecting the Custom Performance tab.
Upload the growth data by either selecting:
a. Upload Growth Data which allows you to upload multiple data points via an Excel template, or
b. Add Monthly Return to enter the growth returns directly to the page
5. Uploading Growth Data
Follow the steps in the pop up box to download and populate the template.
Populate the designated fields on the template: Code, Date and Value.
Note: the starting value must be 10000
Save the template when you have finished entering the data and then select the file and click on 'Upload Growth Data File'
When the file uploads the growth data values and monthly returns (%) will display on the screen.
Adding more data returns to your Custom Product
Your Custom Fund will show on the My Custom product home page and you are able to add further Growth Data, edit or delete your fund from here or use the functions to save, export or send to other parts of iRate (once you have selected the product using the tick box to the left of the name).
BULK UPLOAD GROWTH DATA
This option allows you to load multiple data points for one or more of your custom products.
Note: when using this function you need to import the full growth history data not just the most recent data points as it overrides all data currently saved for the Custom Product(s)
To easily download the saved growth data, click on the 'Growth Data' button next to the product name on the Custom Products dashboard
MANUALLY ENTER GROWTH DATA
If you only have one or two data points to enter, you can do this input them manually by clicking on 'Edit' on the Custom Products dashboard
This option allows you to enter the monthly return % over the growth data value
Click on the button 'Add Monthly Return', a new blank row will be created
Enter the Date and the Monthly Return, the Growth Data Value will be calculated for you
Note: the starting value must be 0.00%
When you have finished, click Save.
