As part of the Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO), Lonsec and SuperRatings are required by the Regulator to ensure products that are rated by us have a Target Market Determination (TMD) in place.
We support the Design and Distribution (DDO) process by making Target Market Determinations (TMDs) available via iRate® for the funds that we rate; these are collected direct from the product issuer.
Where will I find the TMD's in iRate?
The TMD's are available in Product Search or under the 'Documents' column on each research library tab.
Look for this icon
For Managed Funds, ETF's and Super Option products the TMD can be found next to the Product Profiles and research reports, look for this icon
For Super Funds the TMD's can be found in the Documents tab of Shortlisted Products once you have selected products from the search results
Product Search > Superannuation > SuperRatings
Why is there no TMD for a product?
At this stage Lonsec is only collecting and providing TMD's for those products we rate.
SMA's: if you require a TMD for a rated SMA please contact our Data team at data@lonsec.com.au with the SMA product details.
A TMD may not be required for all products. Where you can see a rated product with no TMD available the product issuer will have notified us that a TMD is not required for that particular product e.g. a super option on a platform - the headline fund has advised a TMD is not required from them.
If unsure please contact the Product Issuer to confirm the status and request a TMD.
Can I download a number of TMD's at once?
Yes, for any products you move to the 'Shortlisted Products' area of each research page they will be available to download from the Workbench at the top of the page. Learn more about how to use the Workbench here
Why do some products have the same TMD or not reference the product in it?
For some products, the product issuer has advised us the TMD applies to funds managed under different platforms and therefore the headline fund TMD will be cascaded to these 'child' funds. If you are unsure whether the TMD applies, please contact our Client Services to confirm.
Where are the TMDs for SMA products?
Due to the complexity of delivering Target Market Determination (TMD) documents for Separately
Managed Accounts (SMA), TMDs for this product is not available via iRate®.
If you require the TMDs for an SMA, please email the name of the SMA and investment platform provider to data@lonsec.com.au and they will be sent to you.
